I am being asked to do a task at work that I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO.

They have tried to explain it to me, but it is completely foreign and my brain is simply not absorbing it. I feel stupid and useless and I am tired of asking questions over and over and over again.

I feel like I am ready to snap. Crawl into a ball and just start crying like a baby. (very manly of me - i know).

ARG!

Hello I don't matter: I'm sorry you are experiencing this difficulty. I hope you will be able to figure out a way to overcome this work-related quandary. Go ahead & curl up into a ball & cry. It's okay. Just do it when others are absent if it feels uncomfortable. I'll never tell...

IDM, I do not know much about computers or the business world, but can you google the key words at home to study up on it? Just an idea.......

I kind of know how you feel about having something explained more than once. My brain needs to hear a new thing several times before it even begins to make sense.

Best wishes to you. May your holiday be peaceful, relaxing and carefree.

It sounds overwhelming. Just as an exercise, can you try explaining it to us? Don't feel bad if you can't do it, this isn't a test. Sometimes in attempting to explain something to others, we get a better understanding of it ourselves.

Is there a coworker that you can call at home and ask them about it? And if not google up on the internet to get some insight into it is that you need to know. I hope this helps. tc

Can you write it down ? or may be after your work shift, stay to practice ?

I've been to similar. I was working at the deli booth (like buffet, but the employee get the food for the customer instead) and the pricing and what container to use is confusing. They got it of course, but I was new and don't get it.

They explain, I asked, but the manager was not being systematic when he tell me, in fact I barely get any training, I just don't understand.

So sometimes, it could be their problem.

It's about communication, getting the information deliver, understand and digest.
Thanks for this!

Write as much down about it as you can. Does this task have specific steps? Maybe you could write down everything you know about it in a notebook. Then write down your questions followed by the responses you get when you ask. Walk through what you have written down with someone and let them help you fill in anything that's missing. Study it. Have the notebook handy when you try to do the task. It will come. Everyone has things at their job they have to work harder at, so don't beat yourself up over it.
