I had been posting quite a bit on Daily Check In about my friend and I possibly splitting up. This afternoon it happened. I was the one to let him go. One thing happened this afternoon that was the last straw, even though it was kind of minor.

This afternoon he gave me a couple of containers of peanut butter cups and I didn't care for the flavor he gave me. He knew that I was not enthused about getting it. I broke down and told him that I was not crazy about the flavors. He then just got up and left my place in a huff.

I know that sounds ridiculous to break up a friendship over peanut butter cups. But there were so much more before that. He has just suddenly left me in a huff previously when I did not want to do what he thinks is right. It's humiliating and shocking when this happens. But this is very minor compared to other things he had done to me. He constantly criticizes and, at times, would make a sexual advance and innuendoes at me, which I never liked. But like a fool, I PUT UP WITH IT!

This is heartbreaking because he's the only friend I have had in the last few years and up to now. So now I'm going to want a replacement, but I know that it's not going to be easy. Considering my social anxiety, being the way I am, and being very choosy. I guess I'll have to do it all alone for a good while it looks like.

I'm sorry, Will. You've been talking about him for longer than I've been a member here. Even though he's caused you trouble, I know it was important to have someone around. I know the troubles with finding people who actually enrich your life when you're both socially anxious, and being selective. It's too easy to settle for people who aren't the best for us when it's either that or no one.

Wish I had more to offer than just my empathy.
