I turned 24 today and realized how little my surroundings have changed. I've tried to become a better person and to view people in a positive light but can't. My deadbeat father whose number I have did not reply back to me when I said today is my birthday, because the idiot forgets. I don't have any friends and really think most people hate me.

I had a dream that my so-called cousins who were supposed to help me adjust to life here in a new city really don't want me to babysit their son but they pay me because I'm cheaper than daycare. And one of them didn't wish me a happy birthday either.

I'm actually crying on birthday but don't feel sorry for me. I just want to know how to stop feeling sorry for myself.

Happy Birthday! I think that you should honor your feelings of feeling sorry for yourself. It's good that you care enough about yourself to feel sorry for yourself. Once you accept your feelings, maybe do something for yourself, do something you like to do or go out to eat. Maybe ask a good friend to go with you. Just some ideas. I do hope your birthday gets better!
Thanks for this!

When I need to accept where I am in life, I try to get a perspective on things, which helps in distancing myself from my problems and results in a more laid back attitude. Walks in nature were very catharctic for me, as was journaling and painting.

Be patient and people will answer, there are a lot of threads going on.

I like my birthday, I get together with my friends and family. I have spent birthdays alone (and I don't mind doing so).

Call it your birthday weekend and take yourself to a movie and nice brunch.

MY birthday is on the first day of Lent - no birthday cake for me?! I'm gonna hafta stuff my face with paczki on Mardi Gras, so i dont feel sorry for myself!
Thanks for this!

Hi Gonegirl. I spend all my birthdays alone. I allow myself to thoroughly feel the sadness. After I have done this, I am able to move on and listen to music. That is all I do on my birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
