I have always had a weird reaction to it. I usually fall asleep for an hour as soon as i take it, if i take it during the day. So i take it at night. I used to take ambien. Now (in my sixties) a little topamax will knock me out.

Hi, as far as I'm aware, insomnia is one of the possible side effects of Prozac. If your sleep has got worse since you started taking it, I would suggest you contact the prescribing doc as soon as possible. It may be that it's not right for you, so the sooner you discuss it, the better.

Posting on "ask a therapist" may shed some light if you can't contact doc very soon.

Best of luck, I hope sleep comes to you soon!

Ps sorry I didn't see this before today,

I get it too. It's worse in the weeks following an increase in dose but it does settle down a bit later (for me anyway). I don't really remember what it was like the first time I was prescribed it though. I've went up in dosage, down, stopped, restarted, etc over years so I might be less sensitive to it now.
