I know what Learned Helplessness is. I recognize my thoughts are so rotten with that mindset it's like navigating an ocean of swiss cheese. Basically I'm feeling a big wall of discouragement, anxiety and pessimism between me and anything I value. So, I sit and ruminate. Then ruminate some more. Then watch funny cat videos on youtube to cheer myself up, while wondering where all my free time went.
But I recognize my enemy and intend to make it wish it hadn't messed with me. Wish me luck, please. I feel like I'm floundering badly these days. |

Good luck Onward2wards. Recognizing our weaknesses doesn't make them easy to conquer but it starts us off on on the path toward victory.

An important question, I think: what's the alternative like?
I recognize my own tendencies towards this (maybe...or maybe it's genuine helplessness...), and I know what contempt others have for those with this trait. But seriously, what's the other option? Perfect confidence and happiness, going through life comfortably alone, racking up empty accomplishments and goals and never feeling anything negative? Because you're supposed to control all those things...but what kind of life is that? |

Learned helplessness is also a character trait of mine. I agree their are a lot of people who contempt those with emotional problems/low self esteem/low confidence in their own abilities. Which is illogical, but who cares. -.-
