I've been depressed for awhile now. I also have BPD. I ODed on my meds Wednesday and ended up in the ICU. I then ODed on NyQuil Sunday and spent like 12 hours in the ER.

I haven't had meds since Wednesday but have a doctors appointment Thursday. Just have to keep "sane" till then.

Anyone have advice on how to keep "sane".

Blessings,

ArmyWife09

Hi ArmyWife09, I OD'd, or attempted to, and woke up in ER. Stayed in hospital psych ward about 10 days. Then did a month or two out patient program. So I know how you must feel. I am really surprised your stays at hospital were so short! Did they release you, or did you check out early?

It's such a fine line between sanity and insanity. My best advice is to get some professional help - see a pdoc and a therapist. Things can and WILL get better!

I was in the ER for 12 hours. They didn't have room on the psych ward. They were going to transfer me but they didn't. Not sure why.

Distract yourself like crazy. Clean manically, workout like a freight train, read like a college student and watch movies like a teenager. Call the suicide prevention line or talk on a chat if it gets bad again. Do it everyday if you have to, several times a day. You'll get there, I believe in you.

Google NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and see if you can find a live support group in your area. These have helped me SO much. If you can't see a T right away, one of these meetings, group sharing style with others with mental illnesses, really helps.
