A therapist I saw IRL said that "some people are beyond help"
And that he sends them back to their GP
This is in the UK

My opinion is that nobody is "beyond help"
Although, sure, if they have been treated by professionals IRL like this enough times...maybe they will be one of the people who "end their life". This is very sad, but no, I don't blame them one bit

I have no idea how this appalling **** can be changed

Sometimes, there are people that are not easy to be helped but I think this is because our knowledge about behavior, brain, mind is incomplete. And then, the "helpers" themselves have limitations, personal issues that interfere with their performance, etc. Then we have contexts that are not helpful. People are used to simplifying things ("X is not fixable"). Instead, we should acknowledge our ignorance, our limitations, our lack of will before saying that somebody cannot be helped at all

I don't think anybody should ever be told they are "beyond help." Sadly, this is how mental health staff can be sometimes. Somebody needs to improve the mental health system in the UK and in the US. I was almost turned away from seeing my psychiatrist at the low income mental health clinic in my community because they don't "accept" my insurance.

my love and prayers are with you fuzzy. You are a good person.

Thank you both

As I think someone else said "mental health care" in the UK is an absolute farce

Those words I quoted (in my above post) weren't said about me, but that mentality (of writing off human beings in such a thoughtless and callous manner) disgusts me

Love to all here

very important thread....the mental health system in the usa is broken...
people are looking to lay the blame somewhere....and frequently patients are blamed...like that person is crazy...give them drugs...they don't need talk...just shut them up....don't want to see any anger....that could be a sign of trouble but it may be a big sign of health...who wouldn't be angry with all the rotten treatment....there is a little good out there but it is hard to find and you may need $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...

Although no one has said I'm "beyond help", my medical systems (yes, more than one) have basically "triaged" me to the sidelines.
