My parents have passed on. As far as I can remember it seemed like they were never crazy about parenting. I found out some time later after they had passed away that they planned on not having children when they got married. When my Mom was pregnant with my sister (the first) my father was very distraught, I heard. And then three followed after my sister; all unplanned.
My father complained a lot about having kids. He used to say that kids were a heavy burden. I think that he had depression along with anxiety. I think that it got passed down to me and my sister and two brothers. My grandfather and great-grandfather were supposed to have it also. I never got married. But I had wanted to get married and I was hoping to meet a woman who felt the same as I did - never wanting to have kids. So I guess my father influenced me on not wanting to have kids for myself. |
