I've been having a lot of auditory hallucinations lately -- I've not been diagnosed with any illness that should cause them, nor on any medications that should, however today I woke up "listening" to a song I don't particularly care for.... to realize I didn't have any form of audible communication playing... I had an episode awhile back with some visual and auditory hallucinations which happened soon after waking, and some have suggested looking into hypnagogic hallucinations... but I was curious if anyone else has had experiences like this.

How weird. Has anyone diagnose you with any type of schizophrenia symptoms? If not could have been a reaction to a drug. Have you been using illegal drugs?

I do not use illegal drugs or recreational drugs. My brother was diagnosed with scizoaffective disorder -- but I have no way of knowing if that was drug induce in him or not. He did use illegal drugs .It really is a weird topic to talk about. I do hear voices from time to time... and sounds, images... it's not exactly easy to talk about sometimes.

Hello Brentus: I haven't had any experiences of this sort. So I can't be of any help. My thought would simply be to check this out with the doctor who is prescribing your med's. I hope you're able to find a solution to this. I can imagine it would be somewhat distressing.

Check out Charles Bonnet Syndrome -- anything sound familiar in there?

Definitely tell your Doc. It may be something that needs checking out.

Thank you guys for your responses. They mean a lot to me. I'll bring it up at my next psychiatrist appointment. I didn't see my similarity with the Charles Bonnet Syndrome, but thanks for mentioning it-- it at least have me something to explore. I do have bad eyes though and suffer amblyopia. Let's just hope they are just harmless symptoms ...

From my understanding, it is possible for MDD to have psychotic symptoms if it gets that far. Don't know if that's what is going on but it happened to my little sister. Everything just got to be too much for her, I guess.
