Two things.

First I can't sleep I literally get 1 maybe 2 if I'm lucky good night in 10.
I'm completely restless, get sweaty and when I have my eyes closed I sometimes get a feeling that I'm falling from a hight. Sometimes I will wake up panicking aswell.

Secondly. I keep thinking all of my friends are just going to walk out of my life. I know it's unlikely but I just can't help myself thinking that. If they don't respond to a message or seem off I just assume it's my fault.

Don't know what to do anymore

Dear Eamgr,
Anxiety too which makes it 3 things. You probably need to consult with a doctor. I think it's really hard to deal with anxiety and paranoia when you are not sleeping properly. Lack of sleep can cause problems in and of itself. So if it was me, I would address the sleep problem ASAP. Besides consulting a doctor, the Huffington post website has an entire section devoted to getting sleep. Once again, this is merely my opinion; however, if you have never spoke with a doctor about your symptoms, start with your primary care doctor first. They might be able to test and rule in or out physical things (like low vitamin D, pituitary gland problems, etc.). A primary care doc could prescribe something to help you sleep. If the anxiety and paranoia per persists then a therapist and/or psychiatrist would be helpful. Hope you can get some sleep soon.
Sincerely, Myst

I relate to this so much. I have experienced the sense of "falling from a height" before while trying to sleep and it's a terrible feeling.

Lack of sleep amplifies everything bad that is happening and makes me feel out of control. My anxiety and depression is always the worst when I'm sleep deprived. I feel like I'll never recover and that my suffering won't end.

I've been dealing with insomnia for over 4 years but have finally started getting some relief through taking anxiety medicine that specifically helps you fall asleep and stay asleep. If you think that would help you too, you should talk to a psychiatrist about it. Otherwise, journaling, reading, or meditation before bed could help. Also limiting your caffeine intake can help.

I hope you get some rest soon. Stay strong.

I'm so sorry your aren't feeling well. I've been in that paranoid mode before.

If you get sleep that will make a big difference. I have to take sleep meds to help keep my depression under control along with my anxiety.

Hi

Thanks for your reply, I am seeing a doctor about my problems. I forgot to mention that I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety before last christmas. I think that the anxiety is what is causing my paranoia but Im clueless about the sleep problems.

It isn't a major issue if I don't have work as I can lounge or dose in bed in the morning but when I have work it is a problem as I have to get up before 6.

Hi Thank you.

I have Anxiety and Depression too. I was on anti-anxiety and under a psycho therapist. My problems went away or at least appeared too but then came back only worse. I was put on Mirtazipine recently but had too stop taking it as it prevented my over meds I have to take for epilepsy from working.

Also I have tried calming methods, such as reading but concentrating is difficult for me. Its not really worked much. I don't have much caffeine anyways but I'm cutting it down further I think sometimes I worry too much or think that because I have bad nights its going to happen but I'm not sure.

Do you find that knowing that you have to get up early for work the next morning or do something else the next day makes it harder to fall asleep?

For me, I can usually fall asleep more easily if I have the next day off. If I have school, work, or some other obligation, then I'll start feeling anxious/stressed about not getting enough rest. It's like I can't handle stress AT ALL.

Here are some other tactics about help sleep:
- Having the same routine every night. For example, taking a shower every night and getting in bed around the same time. I read every night before bed until my eyes get tired.
- Make the temperature cool. It's much easier to sleep if it's cooler in your room.
- Don't eat a huge meal right before bed. Eat dinner around 6 or 7 if you're trying to go to bed at 10, for example.

Maybe this can help you! Sometimes it helps me, sometimes my mind just takes control. Good luck.

Try running a fan in your bedroom. This helps me fall to sleep.

Hi

Yeah I sort of find that but I think a big part of it is I can just lie in bed more then on a work night. I have tried doing stuff like reading but concentration is really difficult for me at the moment. I tend to go too bed at 11 latest on work n nights but now I just leave it till I feel really tired then try sleep.

To be honest though even when I get good sleep its normally about 4 hours, seldom to I get a really good night sleep. But when I do I still feel tired because of all the other sleep I missed.
