I am not seeing a psychiatrist, just getting my Prozac from my GP. I don't really want to see a psych cause I just don't want to spend so much time with doctors!
I went on 20 mg of Prozac about 6 months ago. I had been getting pretty low, having a really hard time getting out of bed, getting anything done at work, couldn't deal with any kind of stress, etc. I felt a big difference after starting it but now, I still feel a bit like I would really just rather be in bed most of the time. I don't have such a hard time getting up, but by the end of the day at work, I just want to go home and climb into bed. So I am thinking maybe bumping up to 30?? |

Won't you run out before your next prescription if you increase it now?

I mean seeing the doc about upping the dosage.

It's worth a discussion with your doc especially to weigh up the risk of side effects against the benefit of a higher dose depending on your physical health.
Definitely talk to your doc about it, but if s/he advises Pdoc then it may be that seeing a specialist could counterintuitively reduce the total time you need to spend in their offices. Good luck, I hope you get what you need. ![]()

I was going to say talk to your doctor but I see that was already your intention.
![]() The advantage of seeing a pdoc might be that they are more knowledgeable about these medicines, newer ones than Prozac, dosage options, and will be (maybe) more in tune with your symptoms and getting the medicine that is the best fit for you, while you're GP may be (maybe) just thinking "depressed patient -> apply Prozac". If you feel you are getting knowledgeable care from your GP then I would say yes, ask him. Good luck.
