I have noticed when my mood starts to drop and anxiety rises I start grinding my teeth. It is so bad that I have a couple of loose teeth because of it but I can't seem to stop. Does anyone else have this problem?

for me it's usually shaking, nail biting, or moving my mouth open and closed (seems to help for some reason)

and the 7 11 method. always been a fan of that one

I've been grinding day and night for over 10 years. I developed TMJ before identifying anxiety as the cause. It's absolute horror. I advise if you notice it happening more often you bring it up with your medical provider before it becomes a serious problem. Since it gets serious there's little to do to help prevent damage besides a night guard. After grinding as bad as I do for as long as I have, I have cracks and chips in my teeth, all of the incisors are dulled flat, I'm in constant 2-3/10 pain, can hardly eat steak or burgers without my jaw going out, I get headaches, etc. However, I do have a pretty bad anxiety disorder which left unchecked for years made the problem a lot worse. Don't let it get out of hand!

Went to the dentist this morning. No real damage except two teeth being loose. He is just going to keep an eye on things and told me to make an effort to stop doing it during the day. Then we will know if it is a night thing too and maybe do a mouth guard then.

I have problems with my jaw (TMD - Temporomandibular joint dysfunction) which causes it to click sometimes, or not open straight & last month was sore & giving me headaches too.

My doctor said it was probably due to teeth grinding. I've just moved dentist but she said that if it's worse in the mornings, like it is for me then I am grinding my teeth at night. I don't have any specific problems with my teeth due to it at this point, just my jaw. My dentist didn't really have anything to say about my teeth being worn.

I've been paying more attention recently & noticed I do tend to clench my jaw during the day when I'm anxious too.

I'm currently deciding whether or not to get a mouth guard. Even though I recently switched to an NHS dentist, they aren't covered so I'd have to pay the full cost which isn't that cheap.

It first appeared before I got diagnosed with an anxiety disorder a few years ago & tends to flare up once in a while with my anxiety. On one hand, it comes & goes... but on the other... I don't want things to get any worse. Thus far it's just ranged from an irritation to mild pain.
