I was in college today jus mocking my friends as usual, as we all do. Somewhere in the middle of it, one of em says my life's a joke. I know that it was just impulsive, but i can't seem to get it out of my head. So much so that at a point it echoed in my head. I tried to distract myself by taking pictures and stuff, but it just doesn't seem to wor. really need help

I'm sorry to hear you can't get that comment out of your head. Maybe it'll help to talk it out. What do you think about the statement that life is a joke? Do you agree at all? Maybe you feel like the joke rang true for you in some way? Or maybe you're really really disturbed by it because you DON'T agree?
Thanks for this!

Thanks bugbear. The comment was directed at me, which I'm sure of.the reason i feel really disturbed is because it's true.

Ahhh I see. So it keeps replaying in your head because you feel like your life really is a joke. Does that sound about right?

It can be so hard to process disturbing things our brains tell us are true. I can't know for sure, of course, since I don't know you personally, but I do know this; I think in order to get your head to shut up you're going to have to resolve to take steps to fix that which it is saying is broken.

That is, if you think you're life is a joke, try to pinpoint what that means exactly. Is it something to do with your relationships, your job, your circle of friends? Maybe you've been doing something that's against your core values? Or maybe you're feeling like your life is made less meaningful because of outside sources forced upon you.

Either way try to find the root of the problem and think of one small thing you can do to ease the dissonance between who you Are and who you want to Be. Apologize to someone, confront someone for their behavior, seek out ways to come to peaceful terms with something you can't control. Little things that can seem so big and have such a huge impact on our emotional wellbeing.
Thanks for this!
