Hi, I don't know what to do. Firstly, I'm moving with my family and to keep my dog and cat would be too expensive (according to my mom). My dog has 4 tumors, and we c ant afford surgery. So our options were either to put her down or give her to a place where they will treat her and then when she's better put her up for adoption. My cat is going to be put up for adoption as well. I've had my cat for 8 years and my dog for 2. How can I get over this? For one I feel awful because I feel as if they will miss us terribly and will feel as if we don't love them. Second I'm going to miss them so much. I have depression, and this has made me feel 10 times worse. I don't know what to do and how to ease my mind. PLEASE HELP.

This is a hard situation. Many pets have to be abandoned when people move. I'm sorry you can't take them with you. That is a long time to have a pet and then have to give it up. Hopefully, they will be found good homes for them. You will have to go through a grieving process of losing them. It will be hard. Make peace with the situation and get by as best as you can.

While I was trying to recover I had to give up one of my dogs of two years. In nearly broke my heart. But I knew I couldn't get better if I was trying to take care of him, and I wasn't doing a very good job of taking care of him. It really hurt, but I found him a good home with a nice family, and ultimately, he is better off now.
Remember, depression is an illness and no one will fault you for having to give up an animal because you are ill and can't tend to their needs. Seesaw

Check around to local rescue groups. My sister runs a dog rescue and my aunt runs a cat rescue. Both have helped adopt and/or foster out family pets in situations similar to yours. My sisters dog rescue also helps some dog owners with surgery, medications, shots, and food. Many rescues are overextended but many will go to great lengths to keep an animal from being euthanized. If you can, start calling rescue groups, tell them your situation and the health of the dog and see what they might be able to do. Wishing you well!

First try and find a home by posting on Craigslist. Lots of people start there and you will actually know their new owner. If you go through a shelter or rescue, you won't have any say on who your pup goes to.
