Sounds like a bad idea to skip meds, just pretend to be sick.

Hello. Yeah, just be careful with medications. I still get 'brain zaps' from stopping certain meds too fast and that was years ago now. But I hear what you're saying.

Welcome aboard.

I am on effexor (venlafaxine) and I can tell you missing even one dose is EXTREMELY not wise. Thanks to the VA, I went 3 days without it and it was hell. After about 16 hrs, you start seeing and hearing things that aren't there. After 24 hrs, you get VERY anxious, can't sleep, nausea, etc. These were my experiences. I have PTSD, so I'm hyper-alert already and anxious. Being without the medication, it amplified these things 20-30 times worse. If you don't want to go somewhere for the holidays, be honest....tell the person/persons you would rather not come. Above all, I would advise you not to skip doses.
Thanks for this!

Don't miss the dose. I have another option for you. What you do, is take a can of heated beans and put some water in your mouth. "Puke" it up in the toilet or somewhere random, put a thermometer in a cup of warm tea and take a picture of it to send to a close family member and finally use just a bit of makeup to make yourself look flushed and pale. I've done this many a time to get out of things.
The last thing you want to do is miss that dose, trust me.

I agree with the above. I'm not on Effexor anymore (it took me 2 months to wean myself off), but I remember how horribles those brain zaps were.

You could always say you have diarrhea. Nobody will ask you many questions. 😆

This is true. Saying "I have the runs" gives people motivation to avoid you, haha.
