Anyone ever tried acupuncture for depression and anxiety? A lady who goes to my church realised I was ill and offered me free treatment in her acupuncture clinic. I had one session on Thursday evening and felt so exhausted the rest of the evening. My legs ached and I couldn't sleep. HOWEVER... I got up the next morning and felt alive for the first time in ages! The fog had lifted! I don't know how long this will last. But I am certainly going back next week.

That sounds amazing. I've always wanted to try it for the depression but my insurance wouldn't cover it. I tried it once for neck and shoulder pain and it worked, so I thought it might work for depression. My insurance is changing soon so maybe it will be covered then. Thanks for the info. Keep us updated on how it works.

I have not had acupuncture for mental health issues BUT some years ago I was having kidney infections that were basically ruining my life. I was having to live on very harsh antibiotics; even so, the kidney infections kept happening. Western medicine just wasn't helping me. Finally a friend suggested acupuncture. I didn't really believe it would help, but I went anyway. To my surprise the acupuncture did help, I felt pretty great, and have not had another kidney infection since I had my treatments. So I do recommend acupuncture.

Acupuncture has evidence base for physical long term pain, so worth a try.
