Does anybody else get depressed when on or close to starting your period? I feel like I get more depressed than usual when close or on my period. Even suicidal at times.

Currently feeling depressed right now. On top of being close to starting my period. I also forgot to take my depression meds last night. I can't take them till I'm gonna go to bed again.

Anything you find that helps lessen the depression and suicidal thoughts?

I sympathise. During PMS I feel extra anxious, stressed, depressed. I used to self-harm. Occasionally have thoughts of suicide.

I take B6 vitamin. This helps me manage the emotional symptoms of PMS. PMS occurs one - two weeks before onset of period. I take B6 during PMS and sometimes through period.

Try looking up PMDD. It is a more severe form of PMS and can cause suicidal thoughts.

Thanks for this!

Aside from meds, no. I've tried meditation, but it just doesn't seem to work for me.

I get this way sometimes, it kinda varies.
It sounds like you could possibly have PMDD. I know I've read for certain people who already take meds, having their doc up their dose for about a week before their period helps, but it probably depends on the med. I notice your signature says you experience gender dysphoria. I hope it's not too intrusive to ask, but do you think it could be partly related to that for you? If so, maybe therapy could help with that aspect of it.

I'm sorry you're going through this.
