It appears that I have exhausted the limited options for treatment in the location in which I reside. I have tried mindfulness and other strategies without the support of the doctors. These have not helped much. I am at a loss and wish my time on this earth was done. And I feel selfish for feeling this way. I'm still here so as not to hurt others.

Hello, Mountainstream! I regret you find yourself in this position.

I keep searching for an answer to the question, "What to do when I've exhausted all the options?" Maybe an old option may have "ripened" with the passage of time, and now it may be more effective. New treatments may - eventually - become available. The depth and inertia of my own depression work against me getting excited about those (remote) possibilities.

You feel the way you feel; I would never call you selfish.
