Psychologists Think They Found the Purpose of Depression | The Huffington Post

I rarely post in this forum, or visit it. I have PTSD but I definitely am suffering from depression as that is part of the PTSD challenge.

I think this article has some merit though. I think a lot of individuals have something in their history that made them more susceptible to struggling with depression at some point in their lives.

It's at least a better framing than the everyone-has-a-chemical-imbalance nonsense. Adaptation or disease is a critical question. I find most of what is said about depression to be reductionist. Either this or that. For many it's probably a complex combo of psychosocial, physiological, environmental, situational, spiritual, etc.
