Anyone else get tired from taking Zoloft? I recently started taking it. I take it at night and it seems I need 12 hours of sleep now. Trying to decipher if it's the Zoloft.

Zoloft can make you tired, yes. When do you take it?

It says take at bedtime. When I did that, I would take at 10pm fall asleep around 2am then sleep till 2 pm. I started taking it around 8 pm now I am sleeping till noon. I thought it maybe an initial side effect (sleeping 12 hours) but I still am sleeping alot. Thinking on taking it with dinner so I can wake earlier. I was curious if anyone else was going through something similar?

My husband and I have had similar experiences with different meds. The best solution seemed to be to take it as early as necessary to be able to get out of bed the next day. By and large the effects reduced over time although the time taken varied with the meds, some improved in weeks, others took months but if they helped, we generally felt it was worth just managing this side effect. Best of luck as you look for the best way forward you can.

Zoloft had the opposite effect on me. The few months I was on it was probably the most awake I have been in a really long time. Weird.

I get that, too. My pdoc actually said it might be good for me (I have insomnia, too) as it can sometimes help with insomnia. The problem with it, though, is that it isn't restful sleep. I wake up a lot, and have the weirdest dreams. The dreams I have on Zoloft are like pregnancy dreams (anyone who's ever been pregnant knows what I mean). They feel so real, that when i wake up my mind briefly has trouble telling the difference between them and reality. I don't sleep 12 hours, because my baby wouldn't let me. But I feel like I could half the time. I start to get really tired right around the time it's time for another dose.

Maybe try tell your doctor if it's bothering you? You might ask for a change of meds

Zoloft completely wiped me out when i was on it. I ended up coming off after 6 weeks as it was dangerous to drive.
