Okay, I think the title kind of summarizes it. What is the difference between those two - laziness and depression? How can you know that you are not simply just 'lazy'?

I don't know if I can articulate the difference but based on my past behavior I can say this: I was an overachiever before the depression hit and now I find it hard to find the motivation to do almost anything. I don't think that makes me lazy, just unmotivated due to my illness. I guess you could argue it either way though.

I don't believe in laziness. If someone doesn't do 'whatever', there is some kind of reason (besides laziness) that can explain why 'whatever' is not getting done. Oftentimes, the reason is depression or anxiety.

I can't stand the term "laziness" anymore. All it means is one person judging another for a situational lack of activity, the root cause of which could be any number of things.

I remember reading an article saying that "lazy" people actually have a lot more reasons at the root for not doing certain things.. such as asking to themselves "what's the point in doing this thing, anyway? It's all useless." Most depressed people think that way. So perhaps you should start asking yourself why you feel lazy
