This holiday season has been stressful for me because my depression and fibromyalgia have been kicking my butt. I don't have anyone to be myself around so all season I've been putting on a fake face but I'm tired of doing that. How have you all been dealing with the season?

This has been my holiday season too. Add to it the fact that being around "normal" people for so long makes me feel extremely broken, and...yeah.

Is there a countdown until you can be yourself again, birchtree, and take off the fake face?

It was good but so overwhelming by the end I wanted to sit down and cry. I'm glad it's time to go to my corner and regroup! I hope you will get a break too

I am sorry you experience fibromyalgia.

I deal with it, too, and was in a flare-up of it; I'd needed a lot of sleep.
I hope you are feeling better with each passing day.

By the way, there is a fibromyalgia support/check-in thread in the Chronic Pain forum, if you are interested.

Take care.

My happy face will be on until my daughter goes back to college 1/6. My holiday season has been a mixed bag of treats...positive and negative. I’m relieved the “hard part” is over but must admit I feel a lot of pressure to make 2018 a much better year.

Hope you feel better soon and rest easier after you take the mask off tomorrow.

This holiday season was brutal for me. Family tension galore. I think it's one of the things that spurred on this last extreme bout of depression.

I pretend. A lot. But sometimes it backfires on me. Like a family dinner we had at my house on New Year's Eve. I eventually had to get up and leave the table. It was embarrassing. But I literally could not sit at the table anymore. The anxiety and the cumulative stress of pretending had overwhelmed me.

We do the best we can.

I understand this all too well. I avoided any of the bigger gatherings this season because I was worried I just couldn't handle them. Hope you're doing alright now.

Thanks, I wandered over to the fibro page and forgot to come back and thank you.
