My 23 YO son lives at home and is going to college. He has suffered from anger and depression from many years but would not take meds. He is now seeing a pdoc and a tdoc and is on a low dose of Lexapro. His dad and I thought he was doing a lot better. He is currently looking for a summer job which may be causing some stress.

His sister has access to his FB. His dad and I do not. His sister says he is publishing things again that he is very depressed. I am worried about him hurting himself. I texted him to just generically tell him I love him and support him and am here for anything. (I have bipolar.)

I texted his tdoc to let her know. I have not heard back.

We are scheduled to go away for three days. I am worried about going. But this is the second time I have missed a trip due to his depression. Of course, I'd never forgive myself if anything happened.

Can anyone give me some advice?

Did he reply to your message? For me, I always want to hide it from my parents because I don't want them to worry or to upset them so I can understand why he might not have spoken to you about it.

Will his sister be around to keep in touch with him while you're away and get in touch if things get any worse?

Yes, he did get in touch back and is okay. I had another family friend that he admires call and check on him and he said he sounded okay.

His sister will be with us on the trip. He has an older brother that can keep him company. This whole thing, though, puts a lot of stress on the other kids. I'm glad they are somewhat older. Thanks for your reply.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
