Hi friends... I am a 23 years old inmigrant in Panama. I am from Nicaragua. I am currently unemployed and have no work visa and no medical insurance, I am living in my mother's house for now. I was working but as I am not legal and have no money to legalize myself I just get temporary jobs and when they are over I have to search for weeks or months before I can get a new job but it's still difficult to save money in this situation. I have depression but I never received any treatment or any kind of help because my family was kind of neglectful and also they didn't have too much money. I feel so tired and this is ruining my life, I can't get up of my bed I just want to sleep I always feel weak and I never want to do anything even things I used to enjoy. I wanted to go to therapy or get some medicines but I don't have insurance here and going to private doctor is expensive... also, here is not like the U.S, there is not community help or shelters or any type of organization that will provide mental care for people at low cost or for free. I have no close friends here, nobody really who I can talk to... I was thinking of going back to my country but I don't have a place to live there anymore so I feel stuck in here and I just want to die... I feel I cannot get out of this situation even if I want to get help because I have no money. I only get like 20$ per week from my father who is abroad because he always sent that money voluntarily and If it was not for that I wouldnt have money for food...do you know something I can do to at least try to get better on my own? Self therapy or some type of activity to help me get through life? Thank you for reading and sorry for my english.

Hi. I'm sorry you're in such a tough position. I agree with the previous poster. If you could get your hands on some self help books that would be good. I also agree with the suggestion that you take walks and get fresh air. Can you talk to your mother or siblings about how you feel? What country is your father living in? Could you go live with him?
I just wanted you to know you're not alone and that you do have support here and that I'm here if you need to talk. ![]() |

I work with a large undocumented population and at least in the Chicagoland area , we can refer people ineligible for Medicaid to a nearby FQHC that receives funds to care for this population. The other option is to seek guidance from your county's department of public health. They should be to help find a hospital that takes uninsured.

What about the Church?
