What music helps you when you're down? Something that comforts, and takes you away to another place?

Original soundtracks in general. Other genres of music do not particularly interest me.

I'm big on playlists, so I usually can either listen to a rock playlist or a playlist of my favorite songs (which is stuff from all genres) and either can maybe help change my mood.

I say rock because it is aggressive, so it'll move me farther from being "down" or depressed and a little more towards aggressive, pumped up or some similar feeling. By the same token, you'd think stuff like rap or dance music would do the same, but it doesn't, really--maybe because I like rock and its subgenres more overall. I do have a lot of mainstream pop on my favorites lists (there are multiple ones), though, and some are uptempo songs...but I would not say it's in that dance music genre, which I think of more as club, electronica, house, techno, etc.

Rock, mainly alt rock. Because, most of the lyrics match my thoughts or conditions

Disco music always makes me smile when I'm down. It's hard not to but there are other genres as well.

I'm not sure. I listen to a lot of genres (glam metal, heavy metal, Chinese folk, classical, jazz, chiptunes, techno, etc.)...so I guess I'll say anything emotional and expressive in general. With instrumentals, it's pretty easy to find (for example, just look up a video game soundtrack), but with anything that has lyrics, it can be a little more challenging since they have to resonate with me first.

I would say "all kinds" or eclectic. I love all kinds of music except for vulgar music with rock, heavy metal, and hip-hop. It depends on what mood I'm in. When I feel like I need it quiet, I listen for easier music. When I feel up and/or very active then I like more upbeat music.

I feel that listening to only what you want to hear can be both soothing and healing - emotionally and physically.
