I'm only 22 years old. I'm really concerned about my awful memory. My memory has worsened over time ever since I was 19 when I started taking psych meds. I can't remember events moments in my life from couple years ago like 2010 when I was a young teenager or when I was 7 years old. The culprits of my poor memory I believe are psych meds, my depression, & lack of sleep. Depression the diagnosis it's self can cause poor memory. The psych meds screwed up my memory & gave me tons of intolerable side effects. I have poor sleep hygiene. I'm a night owl I stay up til 3am in morning obtain 3-4 hours sleep. For starters I can start obtaining more sleep 7-8 hours. What else can I do to improve my memory? At 22 years old your memory has to be much better.

Try to play games like soduko to keep your brain working, that helps me.

I'm glad you're at a place that you see where things aren't good and you can try (and are willing!) to help yourself.

I would try to eat really really well. You need to counter this negative side effect as much as you can. Ginko?
I feel stupid and unhelpful because I also am in the same boat....

The next time you see your pdoc could you run this by him? It seems unusual to be that young and to be having memory problems. I just wonder which of the 3 factors he would attribute it to and if something can be done about it.

So it seems Im the only person with memory issues at my age because of depression, lack of sleep, & the psych meds I took screwed up my memory permanently

You're not alone, my memory is pretty awful and has been for years. I'm 27 now. I think with me it is more because I get so wrapped up with what's going on in my own brain that I don't pay enough attention to what's happening around me to remember. I don't really have any suggestions to help though I'm afraid!

My memory sucks also. My culprit would be lack of focus and in the past lack of stimuli.
