After so many years it's tiresome having to tell people of my depression. People don't care or people don't pay attention to your illness so every time you mention it they act surprised family friends etc. Now if you had a physical illness that everybody could see people would ask you how are you today how you feel.? But since it's a brain in illness and you don't walk around

I don't really talk about it. Only my family and some close friends know, but I feel uncomfortable telling people I have depression for some reason. There's still a stigma associate with it and I just feel like I'm throwing a pity party for myself if i say "I have depression"

I agree with you both. I don't tell many people about my depression because of the stigma. Having said that, mental illness isn't something tangible so you get treated differently from someone with a physical ailment.

I have very few people that even know of my diagnoses. Only two (sometimes three) of them do I actually talk about to. Outside of PC, I keep very private.
By the way, welcome to PC.
