Spent most of my 4th helping my mother and grandmother. Having a spinal injury courtesy of uncle Sam, doesn't help, but I'm all they have. My grandmother is getting progressively worse. Her kidneys and heart are failing and it hurts badly to see her like this.
My mother is not doing much better. Her lungs are being burned by stomach acid travelling up her esophagus and leaking down her trachea into her lungs. She is wearing herself out trying to take care of my grandmother. I'm very concerned that when my grandmother passes, my mother will shortly after. I know death is inevitable. It just really sucks because I have so many things of my own to deal with too. They are the only family I have left in contact with me. I've lost everything I've ever l--ed and fought for, and it is killing me to see them both suffering and I can't do anything about it. I've always cared about others more than myself, even strangers. I've helped so many people and tried to help solve their problems. It has caused me nothing but loss, an almost entire life of solitude. When they both pass, all I will have left is my cat. I can't deal with people much anymore. All of them want something. And when they get it, I'm instantly invisible or a piece of #@!&#. I really wish I knew why people are punished for being kind and caring.

Thank you everyone. I'm just so damned tired. I gave up my childhood to raise my brothers and protect them from my fa----, because my mother worked a lot. I gave up my 20's to serve and protect our home. And the rest has been used to help others. It would've been nice if someone had done this for me, but that's not the case. I'm sure others have led much of the same life. Constantly draining yourself to do for others and never being recharged, wears you out. I am certain we people with difficulties are far stronger than the so called "normal" people. Honestly, I'm tired of being strong for others and no "tangible" person doing the same for me. I appreciate everyone on this site. It would be a dream to have a caring person.

You have probably already thought of this but are there any programs or services where you live that can help? Maybe some care for your grandmother so you can take some time off? Or some programs for vets, maybe you can get out and meet some others that have had some similar experiences if that would help or get some counseling? Just some thoughts
