Do people ever actually recover from depression, or is it just a case of learning to live with it, managing it (or not as the case may be...?)
I know depression lies. I know that when you're in the midst of it's grip, it feels as though you will never break free. That your life will never be your own again. The never-ending search for meds that help rather than make you feel more unwell. The lottery that is finding a decent therapist. The struggle to just cope with the basics of day to day living, getting from one week to the next. But what if there's no 'recovery' in sight.... what if how it is now, is as good as it gets? I gave up the idea of being 'happy' a long time ago, thinking I could settle for just wanting to live. But you have to want to live for yourself - not just for others - and I don't. |

There is hope, but no guarantees. Some people do find their way through depression. Finding a psychiatrist and therapist who are specialized and have real expertise working with depressed people is an important first step for recovery. Sending hope and love your way.
