I keep getting my nights and days reversed. It's awfully hard to fall asleep at night. It's after 5:30 a.m. now, and I've been awake all night. Then, even when I go to sleep at a decent hour, I have an awful time trying to wake up in the morning. This seems to be a tendency of people with depression. This has plagued me all my life. It is worse lately and making my life miserable. Does anyone else have this tendency? Does it foul up your life?

I have found it a lot in my most recent depressive episodes.. Difficult to sleep and nearly impossible to wake up. Complete nightmare for work..
Have you spoken to your doc about it at all? There may be something they can do to help with knocking you out for the night.
Best wishes.

I find myself going to bed at about 7 to 8 pm and waking up at 2 or 3 am. I like it iat that time of morning when it's dark, still and peaceful.

The more I have on my mind the harder it is to fall asleep and stay asleep or maintain normal sleeping hours. Too much on my mind too. Hugs

During the summer months I usually have trouble sleeping. I think it's because of the heat and also the temperature changes in the middle of the night. Plus, most of all, the sun sets later. I miss the days when the sun sets earlier. For me there's a sense of restlessness during the summer. It's not my favorite time of year.

There were times in the past when I had trouble sleeping because of depression.

Yes, the day/night reversal is very common with depression and other mental illnesses. This is one of the things medication is supposed to help with...regulating the sleep cycle.

After my last major manic episode I switched schedules. Part of the reason was I was so depressed I did not want to be around people. I would go to bed at 8am and get up at 10pm
