How are people smiling? How do they do that?

Sure, I can do it too. I've modified my mask to move cheek bones. But how do they?

Am I blind to their masks or are their masks buried in their dresser?

Why can't I smile like that? Why can't I see hope? Why is my blood tainted?

My oil to their water. I can never be the same.

None of us can ever be the same.
We change from day to day. Every new experience changes us in little ways, but traumas change us in unforgettable and unimaginable ways. Don't look back. Look forward. Look to the new and beautiful you that you want to become. Look and see all the positive changes you have made so far. I know at first you will say "there are none". But - since the time your trauma occurred, you found a wonderful person and got engaged. You now know and understand exactly who the "good" and "bad" people within that past social ring of people are. How many have you separated from your life? (If even one, that is an accomplishment). You are becoming ever stronger as you discover more about yourself, sometimes tearing a person to their core makes them stronger as they build themselves back up. You are making a lot of friends here. You are very intelligent, creative, and good with words. You articulate your feelings well. These are all positive things. Look forward. Look up. Don't look back. Don't look down.

Don't let those that hurt you have the final say too.
Take back your life. You can do it.

I know your PTSD presents special challenges but don't give up especially in regards to cutting back on drinking. Perhaps join Seesaw on this thread?

New habits are hard at first. When you are trying to establish a habit to stop something -- find something to do during the times you are tempted (cooking, exercise, etc.)
