|
I have been very, very depressed for a while. My reg doc put my on Toprol for my blood pressure. I am reading that it can worsen depression.
Does anyone know anything or experienced this? I need all the help I can get. I can;t stand feeling like this anymore

I'm not a doctor, but I am a medical student. As far as I know, they won't cause depression per se, but they may make you feel relaxed/chilled out, which in a depressed person with low energy could make matters worse. I hope you feel better soon!

Some people take beta blockers off label for depression. I would definately talk to your doctor about this. There are many different meds for high blood pressure, if you feel this one is not working for you.

Thanks guys. When you're being strangled by depression, you look for anything to help or anything youre taking that makes things worse.
