I turned my coworker on to Tower of Power, and we went to one of their shows at a local club. I had left the table for a long time, and when I returned, they asked me where I’d been.

I had staked out the hall leading to their dressing room, and when Doc Kupka (the baritone sax player) walked by, I reached out and touched his arm. He smiled back at me! The table cracked up at my silliness.

I am going to post this (thank you to the sad girl, for making me remember this!)

when my sister was like 7, she came in to the room and said hey.. do you know what?

i said no, what

she goes: I know why oliver twist is called oliver twist

me: why is that?

her: because, at the end, it all works out for oliver.

this is out the mouth of a 7 year old kid.

cute, and very, very very inteligent

Last year at Christmas I met a guy on a Facebook page we are both members of. After we added each other I saw his personal post being stressed out about Christmas. He didn't get a cheque he was expecting and couldn't afford gifts for his kids. Well I happened to have $600 from a club my husband is in to do good with. I talked to my new friend and told him I would like to take him shopping for Christmas presents. We met up at a store (total strangers beyond our new fb friendship) and shopped for an hour. I paid for all the gifts and gave him a $100 gift card. Then the very best thing happened, he hugged me. He is still my friend and I don't think either of us will forget that day.

I posted a picture of my music performance class from my high school yearbook on fb—maybe a year ago. This was a collection of musicians (and a couple of dancers), and we put acts and bands together and performed to raise money for our school. Since I could play piano, guitar, synthesizer, and sing lead or back up, I performed with nearly everyone at some point. I think I’ve found them all if they are on fb.

All the other groups had normal-looking photos taken. Our class screamed and cheered and took on various zany poses.

This photo got over 300 comments! We spent days talking about that class and what it meant to us. Some of these kids were like family to me.

I still remember my prom night. My boyfriend took me to the yacht club (his parents were well off) for dinner, and I ordered a spinach salad. He ordered the escargot (!!), so I had to eat those (I was terrified of trying new things anyway, oh my GOSH I swallowed them without chewing).

I guess I don’t have much to write about it. It’s more that I was so proud—I was so proud of him. He was so beautiful. He had the most beautiful lips.

It’s funny, we talked about this (we are friends now), and he remembers this same moment. He picked me up on the dance floor, and started spinning. He said the same thing, that he saw the art teacher (a mentor of sorts) watching us, and he felt proud, too.

I really like the innocence of our relationship, looking back on it. Neither one of us had ever been serious with anyone else, and we had each only ever kissed one other person is all.

Seeing the Pacific Ocean for the 1st time, is a happy memory for me. It was my 1st visit to America - only the 4th journey in a plane. I really felt like I was on the edge of the world, with nothing but turquoise in front of me. I could see the curvature of the Earth and the blue haze as the ocean met the sky. That trip to San Francisco was pure magic.

I was in Venice. It was a cool spring evening and I was sitting in a café by the water. I ordered a small carafe of wine. I just sat there sipping on my wine and watching the lights of the boats drift on by.

My daughter found a scrawny, gangly, funny looking little white cat with wiry fur and an orange smudged nose at the Humane Society. It wasn’t pretty, but it was cute in its own way and was overflowing with an unusual personality.

She has grown into the most beautiful cat. We love her so much.

Okay this is a bit racy for some, fair warning. My birthday 1.5 years ago was amazing. I pole dance and took a group of girl friends to a private pole party, including a friend who flew into town just for me. Then we headed to the strippers to meet more friends. Our group ordered bottle service and had a private go go dancer. I got my first lap dance. Everybody had so much fun. Best birthday ever and I'll never forget it.

I was just chatting with a friend about High School and it reminded me of how by the time I was in High School things were starting to get better for me and one day while leaving the lunch room to go back to class these three girls approached me and introduced themselves. I was still a quiet guy who had few friends and had no idea what they saw in me but, they were all nervous and smiley and complimenting me and as they were leaving I heard one of them shout "He's so cool!" It was a very flattering experience considering that I had always been the nervous type who could never bring himself to approach and talk to girls. It's a nice little memory for me.

This is so funny, but I actually had a real experience with enjoying a happy memory recently. I was just coming home from dinner on a FREEZING night, and I got in my car and turned on the radio, when out of absolutely nowhere, "Another Night" by the Real McCoy came on the air. It was totally out of character for that radio station to play that 90s dance throwback, but damn! I so enjoyed it!

I had a vivid memory of being in high school in my Aerobics class. "Another Night" by the Real McCoy was the song our teacher used to make us practice our dance routine to put on a show for the school. For MONTHS, we were learning moves, laughing, playing, bonding, and listening to that EXACT song every day, over and over again.

I LIVED and breathed that song for that entire school year, and every time I hear it now, I just think about all the girls in my aerobics class, and how much fun we had, just bonding, and having so much FUN like real life sisters.

Suffice to say I cried tears of joy, and laughed to myself like a fool while the song played the other night, and was so busy tapping my foot and moving my arms and hands, I didn't even think about the cold winter night at all.

Music is so unbelievable sometimes.

The day the recruiter called me to tell me I got the job! I had interviewed several times, and was laid off my previous job while I waited to hear.

I thought I had a good shot at it, so I was able to tell my coworkers when I was laid off about it and not worry too much about me.

My co-worker accidentally gave me the tally sheet for when the interview team voted on who to hire. Six out of seven voted for me. The seventh felt it was a tie between me and one other.

That made me feel pretty good.

This is helping me with work stress. I’m always doubting myself.

Meeting one of my favorite singers last year, I keep the picture of him and I together as my lock screen and home screen wallpaper on my phone.

I have trouble with this thread, but I think it worth the effort. Maybe I'm expecting too much of happiness? It's been bad for so long it's hard to remember without distortion.

Maybe if I stop worrying about that. Maybe it's good enough if it was nice? Enjoyable? A "fond" memory?

Swimming in the rain.

When I was around 5-6, weekend mornings, my father got bread and pastries, I looked at him with the newspaper and we talked about what museum we should go see

Another one: around age 9-10. During the Summer holidays my mom woke me up by throwing pebbles at my window from the yard. It was June-July and very hot. She had found a stray cat that we since kept.

Going camping and kayaking, we would go camping for a week and on that Saturday go on an 8 hour, 27 mile trip down the river, I started going in 2007, and we stopped going on 2013. Some years it rained, others it was really hot and sunny. Also during the week we would do a short tubing trip about an hour and a half to 2 hours down the river, I always looked forward to our camping trips. I miss not camping, tubing, and kayaking during the summer.

I miss the warm summer days when my kids were small and they would gather all their other lil buddies and have water fights, hot dogs, juice, and a whole lot of popsicles and once they were done with that, they would try and use their WET sidewalk chalk. While they we're playing, most of us parents would gather together and sit in out lawn chairs in the blazing sun , have a few drinks , socialize and watch our children play

Very good memories

Taking my little girl to a “ranch” for little ones. She was so adorable, smiling the biggest smile ever sitting on a little pony, and she loved the little barrel cars pulled by a tractor. They had Easter egg hunts too—so sweet

I remember a very commonplace activity.

Turning a large appliance cardboard box into a playhouse for my niece.

I cut out a door and made a handle for it. Then I cut the windows so that they would be working shutters. I helped draw flower boxes, some trim and other decorations. She decorated the inside. I set up some interior lighting. Nice place.

Then the dog insisted on getting inside with her and careening into everything. You can imagine the plaintive puppy eyes and desperate tail-wagging in the face of a small girl's irritation. But it all got settled down.
