When I tried talking about feeling depressed my friend just told me well don't be depressed with a negative sounding tone and it just made me feel worse. I was hoping I could get some understanding and talk about what was making me depressed but people don't really care I guess. Just makes me feel really alone. No one understands. People just don't understand.

I understand. People who don't experience depression seem to have a hard time understanding that it's not the same as life's normal ups & downs. I understand how exhausting it is trying to explain the difference.

Thing is this person has the same problem yet they still say that and when people do it to them they get upset so apparently I don't get to be treated the same way they want to be treated. Everyone else treats each other better than they treat me. I'm just some inferior piece of trash that gets treated like some outcast who doesn't deserve the same rights as everyone else.

I understand. Depression is awful. I have this one friend, no matter how many times I tell him about me and depression, he tells me to “think positive” and to not think about certain things. And it’s weird since he also suffers from mental illness, though it’s GAD and not depression. It makes me feel less of myself. But there are good people out there. My main and only friend at the moment understands, as she’s dealing with the same thing. You just got to find the right person to tell.
