“And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die I know that I am like the rain There but for the grace of you go I”

I love that song! Paul Simon is such a wonderful lyricist. One of the best in my opinion.
Thanks for sharing. Here are some more good lyrics from Ben Gibbard, the writer and lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie. Like Paul Simon, I get the feeling that he really has struggled with depression. Both understand darkness. I wish we could open our eyes To see in all directions at the same time Oh what a beautiful view If you were never aware of what was around you And it is true what you said That I live like a hermit in my own head But when the sun shines again I'll pull the curtains and blinds to let the light in |

That is the simple secret of happiness. Whatever you are doing, don’t let past move your mind; don’t let future disturb you. Because the past is no more, and the future is not yet. To live in the memories, to live in the imagination, is to live in the non-existential. And when you are living in the non-existential, you are missing that which is existential. ― Osho |

@IndigoChild
If you haven't already, check out my favorite band called The Head and the Heart. They're so hopeful, but in a way that lets you know they've struggled. Like in "Another Story" ( I see a world A world turning in on itself Are we just like Hungry wolves howling in the night I don't want no music tonight [...] I'll tell you one thing We ain't gonna change much The sun still rises Even with the pain I'll tell you one thing We ain't gonna change love The sun still rises Even through the rain Another great one to listen to when you're depressed is "Library Magic" ( God, I love that band. <3 Edited to add: Thanks for the link of that youtube video. Have you watched the official video? Incredibly depressing and just doesn't do the song justice. |
