I’m reminded of some common (unhelpful to self) thoughts that people sometimes have...

“Shoulding” self ... never helps, in my opinion

“I wish I could just” - stop being anxious? Be happy?

Yes I’ve had all those thoughts

Another common thought “I’m a Bad Person and there is nothing good about me”....

Possible cognitive distortion?

In a partial hospital program I attended, quite a few years ago now, they told us: "Don't should on yourself!" It was good advice.

My personal favorite unhelpful-to-self thought is: "I just want to die. I don't know why I can't just die..."
