I think the Seroquel some doctors prescribe now for people who aren’t psychotic can lead to very severe long term health issues

Massive weight gain being one thing (leading to other things )

Are benzos “worse”? At least I’m not allergic to them

i certainly hope that the benzos aren't as bad for you as they say...
they worked for me...it was hard coming off my valium...
I don't think I had some of the very bad effects that some people report..
I certainly would take valium rather than abilify...
I love my valium...

the most suicides in the northern hemisphere happen in MAY...
the number starts to rise in march and april and peaks in may and starts
to drop in june...

I am thinking about this now because I started being more disturbed in MAY of this year....my GP says that all things flair up in the spring...

does anyone here find that WINE is helpful for their mental health..
after all it is just another psychoactive substance...and it is legal..
and you don't need a prescription from a doctor..

Self-medicating with liquors is always bad. Don't do it.

I find that wine with meals is helpful for my mental health

It may make me more depressed but I haven’t noticed that. It helps with anxiety..

Having an allergic reaction to meds makes me much more depressed

Fuzzybear, don't worry about the allergy... I have chronic pain, and everything else I have mentioned before in my other posts. My body doesn't handle drugs well either and my psychiatrists hides it. And when I last time overdosed on risperidone in the hopes I will die, led me to have a visit to my internist's office for worsened chronic pain.

I am very comfortable around you and little turtle.

Strangely I had no problem getting off my benzos...in fact my benzos were getting me aggressive...I didn't even have any withdrawal symptoms....don't know how that happened...I have been lucky

I hate anti-psychotics...they make me cognitively impaired and fat....and most of them except olanzapine give me akathasia.
I hate lithium as well. I got psychotic when I was on lithium and topiramate together...so lithium obviously didn't help

I am on risperidone. It's not that bad. I overdosed on them in a suicide attempt and all I got was terrible pain with muscle stiffness and guess what... even worsened depression. There were a few long term effects like psychomotor retardation -- I was unable to save a friend from falling through a staircase, he managed not to fall but I grabbed him five seconds later. Sucks for me because he was a bit special for me... if you get it.

Did this happen early on when you were taking the Seroquel?

I took it for a few months and then became allergic to it.

Becoming psychotic on an antipsychotic ,..grrrrrr

so I got a new refill of my celexa this week...I am still on 5 mg every day...
I looked at the medication guide from the pharmacy....there is a statement ----
what is the most important information I should know about celexa...
#1--suicidal thoughts or actions....plus new or worse anxiety or panic attacks..
I don't like that...I have had a big problem with panic attacks and fear...

What you have to remember about side effects is that not everyone gets them. I've read about horrible side effects on the drugs I'm on, but I haven't experienced any of them.

not everyone gets them---I agree...
I had one patient that killed herself because of the drug
she was taking....it was before we ever knew this could happen...
it was a shocker and I still am saddened by my part in it...
I didn't know any better...but I live with that today..
she was a very nice person...she was my friend
