Why?

Why do so called professionals irl not “help” people (uk) even when they are in “crisis” - even when they aren’t getting by or saying they are getting by.

It’s scary bad and I’m beyond tired of it

(I know it’s the same for some elsewhere. I’m useless to change it )

Who will be the next person to die because of their (professionals irl) Lack of Care

(((((((Fuzzybear))))))))

This time last year I did a skydive for Mind. It’s sad to think in that time nothing has really changed. Yes there is a lot more in the news about mental illness and bringing awareness to people. But there is no action. It’s all just talk. Maybe one day the talk will turn into action and things will get better. I won’t hold my breath though

Do either of you ever think that the system (even if it's actually being put to use fully) is just flawed from the jump?

I mean, you can't tell me that the only ways to treat mental illness are conventional therapy and "the right med combo". What if a person (or bear) is allergic to medication? They just have to live with it? And what if therapy can't work because so many "therapists" are ****ing incompetent, so incompetent to the point where they damage an individual even further? And what, crisis means hospitalization, which can cause further damage and trauma all in the name of keeping them "safe"?

Conventional methods don't work for the vast majority of sufferers, at least not until the system beats them into submission, like saying their fine just so they don't get screwed over again.

And you know what, professionals who talk to me about my cancer offer sympathy and encouragement. But, like when they were doing my tests and pulled up my short sleeve, all of the sudden their eyes turned into judgemental daggers. And then the ****ing patronizing responses didn't help and the moment she saw me getting upset, she looked scared. It was like, "Oh, this one's crazy. What should I do?" Not once apologizing for being an unprofessional ****. How am I scarier than a guy twice my size and weight (I'm not very big) and why would I hurt you? What, cause I'm crazy I must be dangerous?

Mental health professionals even get this way. As long as stigma survives, so will conventional methods that don't work. Yes, I'm depressed but meds don't work and neither does therapy. "Well, maybe you should work on your outlook of life." Oh gee, I never ****ing thought of that once in my life. "Take the meds to make the voices go away." Cool, I love sleeping for eighteen hours out of a day, I'll just pop those right now. Conventional methods don't ****ing work for everyone.

Sorry, ranted a bit there.

Conventional treatment doesn't work for many.

It can all get confusing!

And disappointing.

Love is the answer!!!

My doctor has encouraged me to see a counselor and I spent several months trying to schedule one and just gave up. The people I wanted to see either didn’t take my insurance or weren’t accepting new patients. I totally get your frustration with counseling. I have wasted too much time and money on it over the years. I am hopeful that the education and support on this forum will be helpful. Hang in there...
