When I moved home I had to change to a different mental health service . I got a new support worker . I saw her 3 times and she didn't do anything to help me . Then she vanished . After a few months of no contact I found out she left and that I had no worker or replacement worker and that nobody could be bothered to tell me .

Well my mum phoned up to complain and my psych doc said I need a worker so they finally got me a care co-ordinator . Again I saw her about 3 times . She was nice I liked her . She didn't look down her nose at me like the support worker did . She made some plans of things she wanted to refer me to . Things seemed promising but nothing ever really got started yet . Then poof . Gone . No contact. No explanation . So after 4 months of no contact with her I phoned the mental health team asking to talk to her . " She does not work here any more " where does that leave me ? So they finally told me that I have been allocated a new care - coordinator . So why did that new care coordinator contact me in all that time either ?
So I spoke to her . I have an appointment on Friday . I am nervous . I am also not getting my hopes up . She may leave to . And all this time has passed and I have received no actual help

I’m really sorry I don’t have positive experiences of the “support” in this forest. . My only suggestion is to keep on insisting that they help/support you.

That's awful. And dangerous with vulnerable people.

Sadly, in this world it's all too common. In my experience, you have to politely but persistently keep trying to contact people who are supposed to be contacting you. Don't assume they've got it, if you haven't heard back.

It shouldn't be that way with MH clinics, of all places, where clients may have difficulty making calls and/or asserting themselves. At least you had someone to call on your behalf.

Also you should discuss what you hope for and ask how they plan to proceed. They really should be able and willing to discuss that.

I hope things work out much better this time around.

I agree, it’s awful and can be dangerous

Apparently in this forest there is such a thing as a “written care plan”.

If you trust them enough to even attempt to be honest that is... . (As in I’ve found them not to be honest, although at times brutally “honest” )

I’m sure there are .. some.. good workers who stick around I haven’t found them though
