I had to deal with UK medics recently, and you were very much on my mind.

Not for MH issues.

I've been unable to take aspirin (and all drugs that contain it, or are classed as NSAIDS, like ibuprofen, codeine) since my twenties. I wanted to be referred to a specialist, to investigate what's going on and find out if there are alternatives I could try etc.

Nine minutes later, the GP has told me there's nothing they can do, and is preparing to see me out.

It's unbelievable, their attitude.

Big hugs.

I’m sorry Purple

This makes me very sad

No wonder some of us (only speaking for myself ) feel “hopeless” at times

Unbelievable, it really is. Like a bad dream

Thank you, dear Fuzzy

It's like they're our enemies, or something. That's how it makes you see them. Our mission is to try and get help. Their mission (due to lack of funds) is to get us out of there ASAP, and having done nothing!

I agree it’s “crazy making”

And again, you describe it so well. (You’re very welcome to keep discussing the ...... system.... in this thread. I don’t like “enforcing boundaries” as I did in the other thread ... but it was one of many skills the PUS omitted to even attempt to teach me... so I had to learn it all the freakin hard way. Grrrrrrr

The doctors ... our enemies. It’s “insane” and very very sad

Thanks for putting it so well, as always

Ah, thanks for letting me blow off a little steam about it!

Fuzzy, I did try to make a fuss in the GP surgery. It was gruelling. As you say, these things for some of us have to be learnt and done the hard way

Since joining PC, I do find it a little easier to know what phrases to use. Just from reading the supportive things the members here write to each other every day

I said to the doctor, 'This is really impacting on my life' and 'I find it hard to believe you can't do anything' and a few other things.

Alright, I slightly lost my temper

The doctor tried to catch me out by pointing to a prescription I'd been given by them years ago (for one of the drugs I can't take), and that I hadn't had a bad reaction then.

I replied, 'I put that prescription in the bin.'

(Look of disbelief from the medic).

'That was another occasion,' I said, 'when I WASN'T LISTENED TO.'

And it went on like that.

The doctor did make an offer, which I was grateful for, to do something in a few weeks which might help (I won't bore you with the details). But I felt terrible all night. Really awful. Almost dirty.

Well, thank you wise Fuzzy and everyone on PC.
