It was more than just a bad day at work.

The idiots in charge pushed me too far.

I was called into the office first thing this morning, after not being in for a day, and given a two-hour telling off.

I must have done something very bad, you'd think.

Nope.

I've had it. I'm going to leave.

They shouldn't be allowed to do that . Telling you off for 2 hours ? No wonder you want to leave but maybe you should complain to whoever is above them ?

Sorry you had to go through all that. I have been through similar...scary similar. Not fun, except when my former employer pushed me over that edge, I was out of there that day. I finally had it.

I don't advise that, it was stupid what I did. I would go to the upper mgmt. and talk to your HR to see what your options are. If they are truly bullying you, you may have a case, and they are probably trying to get you to quit so they don't have to "deal" with it.

Wish I could offer comfort, but all I can say is that tomorrow is a new day. Don't let it wear on you. I know that's easier said than done. I am in the same boat.

I appreciate that, SorryShaped. It's good to see you back.

I'm trying to do the sensible thing, and find something else before I quit.

Thanks Crying.

It's a horrible, large company and these attitudes come from the top. Aggressive bosses are promoted. I did complain about another boss (for bullying) some years ago, and nothing happened. I should have left sooner, really.

I did speak to a superior today, and informally told her I wasn't happy, and why. She was nice, but did not take any action, or run through my options.

I would have to complain formally, I guess. That's the impression I got.

Yours and the other members posts have made me think maybe I should complain, even though I know it will be no use.

Thanks

Fuzzy! Thank you so much!

Yes, it was mean. And stupid!

I have to admit, it was gruelling. When I went for my lunch break, I felt like I wanted to find a bridge, and jump off. I'm not being flippant. I wanted to curl up and die.

We don't have enough people to do the job, due to staff cuts. That's why the managers put so pressure on us, imo. Nobody is ever allowed to mention this!

Thank you, wonderful friend. It felt great to read these posts today!

It felt extreme!

Yes, I went in at 9, and came out at 11.

Exhausted!

I'd had a day off the previous day, but the day before that I'd been in charge. Due to a colleague being long-term sick, it was just myself and one other (new and inexperienced) person in the workplace all day.

There was a lot to do! No way I could do it all myself, and try and train the new person at the same time.

I did my best, dashing around, trying to cover all the essentials. I was exhausted when I got home.

Well, I'm sure you can piece together the rest.

Thanks for your message. I really appreciate you reading this

It helps so much to hear that other people know what it's like. Thank you. Yeah, I'm considering how to proceed.

You've all given me a lot to think about.

Much love

I worked for someone kind of abusive in that way once, and it is totally not worth it. I know sometimes you can get stuck because you need the money, but it messed with me for awhile, even after leaving. If you can get out ASAP I recommend it. That is really poor management to yell at someone for 2 hours. Being firm and disciplinary action for mistakes is one thing, but they need more control of their emotions and to learn how to treat people. I am sorry

So was it essentially a day off as being unwell? They shouldn't have any grounds for doing what they did, I can totally understand why you'd feel upset about it.

I didn't explain very well.

I wasn't off sick on that day (Monday); it was just a scheduled day off.

I mentioned it because on Sunday, I was in charge (duty manager). On Monday, I was off and the boss was in charge. On Tuesday, I was given the telling off (for not 'managing' the day well enough).

Thanks so much for your reply.

I am job-hunting like mad.

But haven't ruled out the other options; official complaint etc.

I'm trying to keep a diary, as suggested. But I'm just too tired tonight.

Mood-wise, I'm not doing too badly.

BTW, I haven't worked with this person since it happened. So that's going to be interesting!

It's made so much difference, the support of you guys here. I don't feel alone.

Thanks for sharing that. Sorry you had to go through it. Yes, it does mess with your mind.

It's a bit like having a violent partner, in a way. They're mean, then nice to you for a few weeks.

One of our competitors has a vacancy.

I'm tempted to apply just so I can see the boss's face! Her superiors would go mad, I think, if the company lost me to a competitor. And why? What for?

All I wanted was a bit of appreciation.

That, literally, costs NOTHING.
