I saw some blossom buds today. Why does that depress me? Perhaps because it is november and it actually scares me that the weather is so mild that blossom is actually appearing. It gets me thinking....global warming, wars, noone caring about the earth, people treating others with contempt, people being obsessed by celebrities and their meaningless lives...all of this is selfishness. No one cares anymore. It makes me so sad and also rather angry.
No wonder everywhere i look all i can see is ruin. A mass of people so consumed with themselves that they don't realise how much damage they are doing (i include myself in this btw).
I wish i could show someone what i see....few budding blossoms....and a mass of destruction.

Wow, Abby, that's powerful!!!

I feel afraid for the future of the world too.

I'm really tired of all of the political fighting in Washington, D.C.

It seems like all of a sudden everyone hates the U.S. I know this didn't happen overnight, but it seems sudden to me.

The world situation and the economy make me feel sad that this coming Christmas the world seems like a more godless and less safer place than last year.

I'm notorious for my rather grim world view but I try to remind myself of a few things. One is that more people are aware of (and believe in) global warming today than ever before. I hear a real desire for change when people talk about it. I didn't hear that a few years ago.

We're trying to change the course of a culture that has a great deal of momentum so don't give up hope. This boat turns slowly.

And yeah, your last sentence was a powerhouse. You should save that one.

EARTH......

I want to wrap you in a bubble
keep you safe from all the trouble
the human race has caused such strife
we've been here only a second in your life

Before at dawn your beauty shone
a different world to look upon
scenes we can only now summise
I want to feel how it was, I try.

When man was born did you predict
Just how much we'd make you sick?
Drain the life from your very core
Did you know we'd keep taking more?

Did you know we'd scar your face with greed
through fighting and war we'd make you bleed?
we made you thirsty, drained your resources
by not treating you well your fate this causes.

We were given a gift, we've mistreated you
Planet Earth it makes me blue
to see your happy face turn so sad
I feel your depression and I feel bad.

So sorry we've caused you so much trouble
wish I could give you that protective bubble.

you said it all abby. but like cyran0 said, things are changing bit by bit. i am amazed that still there are so many clueless people consumed by the stupid things in life. we are more aware - and thus we are more aware of all that still needs to change.

sometimes it is so overwhelming. keep holding on to hope.
