Welcome to Leperdom...

With apologies to Lepers, who'd probably do best to avoid my dodgy company - but, boy, do you discover who your real friends are when the stinky stuff starts drifting closer to the fan...

To redux a long story short, I'm in the midst of trying to shift myself & my stuff from place A to B, with a degree of uncertainty remaining where B is actually going to be (some dominoes need to first fall/be encouraged into place). A few friends whom I'd entrusted with the knowledge of the stuff I've been dealing with & will continue to be dealing with for a while yet, have helped some, something which greatly bolstered my spirits & helped me keep going. But, it's just started to get simultaneously hot & very humid at the same time, something which is typically at it's worst overnight & it started to become very obvious that extended overnight periods in an un-airconditioned building that stores heat like a clay oven during the day & would be able to do business as a Swedish Sauna overnight, were beginning to leave me in a worse state next day than was really feasible. So I started gently inquiring about borrowing a few square feet of people's floorspace overnight, so that I might actually be able to get a few hours recuperative sleep somewhere that was climate controlled.

Yikes! I've never seen folks become so twitchy so fast! I truly hadn't realized the extent to which slightly scruffier than usual dude, who'd admitted to having economic & MI issues to work though, had apparently transformed into that which ye keep as far away as possible, least it infect thee in someway...

Yeah, that probably comes across as somewhat more bitter than is actually the case & I've pretty much kept my thoughts on the matter to myself - but darn it, being treated that way leaves a mark, one which would conceivably nudged me over the edge, not so many months ago. Once again, rely on oneself - at least you know what you're going to get....

I live in the SE, and the heat and humidity are oppressive. A couple of days ago I was reading and then noticed that I was covered with sweat. "Oh NO!" I thought, "My A/C has finally bit the dust. Better get to the bank for $$$." Well, I rebooted the system and it started again. Whew. While I was waiting, I was trying to think of someone who would let me sleep at their house, so I understand where you're coming from. I mean, if I stayed at someone's house, it's not like my presence would increase their power bill, ya know?

Congratulations for not melting down (pun intended). Hope you get some relief.
