Hi There,

I am new to online forums and this is my first ever post.

I was just wondering if anyone else has suffered from something that I have. I sometimes (not too frequently, thank goodness) get these short bouts of intense depression which last usually only about 15 to 30 minutes in duration. I then can feel the depressed mood lift after this time.

I should note that these episodes usually come on while I am travelling. It is also noteworthy here to state that I suffer from OCD as well.

I thank anyone in advance for sharing their thoughts and/or their experiences

Hello dude: Since this is your first post here on PC, welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find PC to be of benefit.

I'm sorry I don't know what to tell you about what you are experiencing. I don't travel anymore. And I never particularly enjoyed it when I did. So I certainly experienced bouts of what might have been described as "depression", or in my case perhaps "foreboding" would have been a better term. But, at least in my case, I think it was simply a reaction to being away from the safety & familiarity of home. Perhaps other members, here on PC, will have some thoughts they can share.

By the way, since you mentioned you have OCD, there is a forum here on PC devoted to it. Here's a link:

I get this, too. Instead of having panic attacks, I have "depression attacks" where I experience intense depressive emotions for a short while. They normally happen when I'm having a particularly stressful day or am socially exhausted. The way I handle them is just to ride them out and remind myself during the attack that it's going to be over soon and that I'll be okay. I'm so sorry this happens to you. It's so awful! Hang in there, love There are a lot of awesome people here that helped me a lot.
