I have been away for a while. I first found this forum in 2014 when I was suffering a terrible depression. I have to say Psych Central saved my life. All the good hearted people were here when there was no one else to talk to, nowhere else to turn. I have been away for a while and I feel kind of bad about that.
In 2015 I left a horrible job and took a different job that did not work out. I found myself unemployed at the age of 53. I was at rock bottom with my depression. I finally qualified for inexpensive counseling because I was so poor. I went to technical college and studied accounting. Three years later I graduated with honors. However, I have been unable to find an accounting job in my area. I have a part-time job in a neighborhood dry cleaners. I am an unofficial manager there. I like the job and it feels like home. However, I can't make ends meet on a part-time job. I have applied for several accounting jobs with no success. I wonder if they see my age on an application and don't want to hire someone 56 years old. Also, I have this undercurrent of fear of failure. I don't ever want to experience anything like the job I worked for 5 years where I was miserable and thought of self-harm. I love bookkeeping. I just graduated in June. I have no experience other than working in income taxes. Just felt the need to vent. |
