I'm currently in my 3rd year in college - so I've made it pretty far, yeah - and this semester I'm sitting with a couple D's and a grade that I have no hope in. The course with the hopeless grade is what I'm considering retaking because why not? It was challenging the first time so a second time I can learn from my mistakes.

But there are these negative thoughts seeping into my head saying "You're such a bad, untimely student." "You're a disgrace to everyone." Why couldn't you recover from your depression sooner?" (I was in a bad state of mind for the first 2 months this semester, and now that I will receive help from a counselor (appt. next week), I snapped back and am desperately trying to catch up. It come in cycles).

I just feel so... sunken. I'm trying to remain positive but I can't. Like I'm half-way done with college, why the heck am I so down for?

Don't give up, Maroon!! College is tough (I'm just finishing my first year and it is way harder than I thought it would be). Your mental health has taken a hit and you've still managed to pull through for the most part! Lots of people fail one class in college and you're right - just take it again. You will be that much better at the material (this is the pot calling the kettle black because I am also failing a class, but the prof is super ****** - everyone failed the mid term). There are so many variables that come in to your mark. Can you ask to do anything for extra credit to bring your grades up? What is your major?

Well, there's no such thing as extra credit in my current syllabuses, but I'm just attempting to ace my next final exams so I can just grab a C for some of my classes. Thank you for the kind words, though, and good luck to you, too It's just that I've never gotten low grades for multiple classes at the same time it's like ugh, the load is too much

((((MaroonAbalone)))) I'm sorry you're struggling. I know how you feel... I'm struggling with some of my classes as well, and I'm feeling very discouraged Please, don't give up though, if this is what you want to do. I'm sure you're very smart and that you can make it. You will pass it, eventually.
Thanks for this!

My most challenging classes at this point are Statistics, Ochem II, and Biology. The thing about Biology in college is that the course I'm taking is literally recycled but more detailed high-school content, but my depression and lack of motivation has me at a D in that class. Ochem II is the most hardest class atm, but looking back, had I gotten help earlier, I would have been more enthusiastic to do my homework like previous years...

The rest is an art class and a lab.

Thank you ^^ I'm keeping my mindset as strong as I can keep it so I can study hard this Thanksgiving Break~ I'm going to try to mend the damage of this semester, haha.

I am right behind you, Maroon. I have finals in three weeks and I am so far behind. I’m actually scared. Plus I have two presentations and a paper to write this week, on top of working two jobs. I need to seriously rethink things for next semester.

You are where you are. Start from where you are, sweetheart. Back up a little bit. See the counselor. I hope it helps. College is another world.
