Nights seem to be the loneliest for me, and maybe that's a sign I need to start sleeping earlier. Oh well... so it goes.

When I was a kid there used to be a TV show on the weekends called “Nightmare.” It started about 11 or 12 at night and featured all the old classic horror films, like the original Dracula with Bela Lugosi, original Mummy, and so forth. It had a horribly creepy intro with doors creaking open and a woman screaming.

I used to love staying up with my friends to watch that, because our family didn’t have a TV. (My father objected).

Now I go to bed with the chickens and sleep like a log. Yuck. That’s old age for you... 🤓

There's something about the night that amplifies feelings such as loneliness I think. I sometimes can't get to sleep. But more often what happens is that I'll wake up, after I've been asleep, & can't get back to sleep. One thing I used to do was to get up & do walking meditation for an hour or so. I'd walk around-&-around placing light attention on each foot as it encountered the floor. Our townhome would be dark & quiet. I'd hear the sounds of the city off in the distance. If it happened to be raining, that was a plus. I loved doing this. But my wife objected. So I haven't done it for a while now. Sometimes I still think about it though.

Very hard - n my husband is suspicious of why I stay up so late I think bc when he used to be abusive of me (hasnt been in over 3yrs) I had online affairs as an escape (bc being alone is a terrifying thing for me - I get suicidal even - due to my BPD), but I have not even had an urge to do that since he stopped mistreating me.

So .. that makes it even worse bc I don't know how to make it better for either of us.

I've never seen any classic horror films, am pretty uncultured, lol. With my meds I can be up to around 10-12 hours.

I should try that sometime. It sounds beneficial.

When I was in my late teens there was a late-night radio show called "The Dolly Hoilday Show" I think it was... sponsored by Holiday Inns. They played very quiet music. I can still recall lying in bed at night listening to the music & to Dolly Holiday's gentle voice...
