It just dawned on me this morning that I can longer seek help regardless of if I want to or not. I work for a transportation company where I drive a truck all day long. I just recently got this position, which required a DOT phyisical. I lost my DOT status once before, but back then driving wasn't as big of a part of my job as it is now. So when I lost that status they did a work around for me. Now with my new position that's no longer the case.

I hate how being suicidal you are lumped in with mass murders. That's like saying all Muslims want to kill everyone and are terrorists. When in actuality only a very small group of Muslims for that description. Not every suicidal person wants to take everyone with them. In fact mass murder & suicide are very rare. Now take away someone's job who is asking for help is one of the worst things you can do.

Don't tell me I can't get fired because of this. I can get fired because I am no longer qualified for the job. It doesn't matter why I'm no longer qualified other than I'm not. When people/politicians talk about healthcare reform they don't really mean the quality of care we get & they certainly don't care about mental health care. Always treat the symptoms, not the cause & the problem with always persist.

What you can do is treat yourself with kindness and try all the things that you have been taught by past treatment. If not we all have suggestions for sure. Keep reaching out to everyone here.

Good post above. I'm learning no one else will treat me kindly if I can't do it for myself. I put up with lots of bullshyte in my life, because I wanted to please others, never thinking "me first". Now all I see in the people around me, is me, me, me, me first and it's sickening. But, at the same time, it could be learning to accept yourself and not be selfish. It's hard for me anyways, to see the difference. I used to think relaxing with a cup of tea was selfish. I just worried about my kids, my marriage, drama.... sorry I need to talk so I'm typing too much.

I hope things will someday get better for you. I'm sorry you're hurting.

I completely understand how you feel! In my case not only do they not accept my insurance like they promised but we don't have a lot of resources in my area.

Do you still have your position driving the truck, Humpty Dumpty? It's just worrying you that they COULD fire you if they wanted?

That's certainly a scary situation to be in, @Humpty Dumpty! I am DEEPLY SORRY this is happening! Please be kind to yourself like the other wise, wonderful posters have already wisely said better than I ever could. Practice self-care and reming yourself that this is NOT your fault and that you did NOTHING wrong. That's important to remember as often we blame ourselves for things that are outside of our own control. As for your job, perhaps this is a stretch, but is it possible to take them to Court if they fire you? I'm not sure what the Law says so I may be COMPLETELY mistaken. I COMPLETELY understand if that's not an option. No worries. That was just a silly idea of mine! As of now, focus on just doing the best job you can. Is it possible for you to look for other jobs as well? In any case, you'll find PLENTY of Support here. I am SO SORRY this is happening to you. You don't deserve ANY of these bad things. I SINCERELY hope they won't fire you and that things will get better soon for you. it sucks that people struggling with MI are not getting the proper Attention and Care that they NEED and DESERVE. Please NEVER give up hope, although I understand that it can be REALLY Hard sometimes. I'm REALLY HAPPY that you're around, Humpty, even though that's a selfish thing to say perhaps. Still, that's the truth! You're loved here, Humpty! Please ALWAYS remember that!
Sending many safe, warm hugs to BOTH you and your Dear Wife, @Humpty Dumpty! KEEP FIGHTING AS MUCH AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN LIK YOU'RE ALREADY WONDERFULLY DOING ALL AND ENTIRELY BY YOURSELF! KEEP IT UP! BE PROUD OF YOURSELF! YOU'RE AWESOME, YOU'RE IMPORTANT YOU MATTER A LOT, YOU'RE WONDERFUL AND YOU MATTER! THAT'S A PROMISE
