Hello, Invisible Butterfly! Here's my personal take on the "AS IS Bus," recognizing others have their own:

Over the course of the Confessions of Little Turtle threads the image of a bus presented itself as a useful abstraction of people traveling together. Later, posters here found the "AS IS" idea comforting. That is, accepting ourselves as is, even if common standards regard us defective, is a healthy state of mind.

This does not mean we are happy with how we and the world are. It does not mean we have attained a sense of wholeness or self-acceptance. But we, in our various ways, are trying to affirm our as-is selves now, even while pressing on to better hoped-for states.

The bus... is a metaphorical place for me. A safe place where we can be AS IS.

Here we support each other. Practice the mantra "Love is patient. Love is kind." This mantra was first posted by Little Turtle who is the creator of this thread.

Buses arrive and people get on and off...
A bit like this thread...
We visit and we go back to real life...

It is comforting to know...
We can get on the bus when we need too and someone will also get on with words of love, respect, compassion, empathy and love with hugs...

A kind is all that is needed on the AS IS Bus....

Hi invisible butterfly,
I think little turtle, Rohag and Thirty shades answered your question rather well.
As thirty shades said, it's comforting to know that we can get on the bus when we need to and someone will also get on the bus with words of respect and understanding. There aren't very many places out in the world where people take the time or put forth the effort to be respectful and understanding of others. As thirty shades said a kind is all that is needed here. Nobody in here is about judging or excluding anyone else. Maybe this might help our inner self(ves) to be kinder to self(ves) too. This thread has evolved over time (as many long threads tend to). People get on and off the bus when or if they want to.

maybe that's partly why CBT doesn't help some (most?) trauma survivors...
its (maybe) about ''normalisation''
and sometimes the client is blamed when the therapy doesn't produce ''significant change''
A bit like blaming a flower for being watered with tincture of snake powder.

I could be completely wrong. feel free to correct me Rohag, little turtle, Thirty shades (or anyone)….

''normalisation''

That is a big part of the problem...
IRL they do not accept AS IS...

When CBT doesn't offer significant change, we are blamed for not trying hard enough...
My feeling system is faulty...
It does not respond due to negative recordings of the past..
Triggered into action before I have a thought or act out a behaviour....

So CBT can help in a limited way but...
And some situations are just terrible to live through...
Being positive while being abused won't help.
It is not always possible to escape that abuse...

Sending hugs to all who need them

I have been watching TV...
An article about mental health...

I was triggered when the person interviewed (who was advocating help for us) called us

Possible trigger:

It makes me feel like I am less than a normal person...

me....

I know what you mean
Possible trigger:

I have very little to do with any of them since they have only harmed me irl.

Things are, it seems, different in this forest where we both live. I think there have been some improvements over the last decade. Maybe But since I don’t talk to them I can’t be sure.
(Irl..not about anyone here)
