Hey, so 3 months ago I was started on Fluoxetine for low mood. I’ve been on it before but then it stopped working. I think that it is working now. But now I do stuff that I wouldn’t normally do like drinking stay up till late, go out until late, and I’m more promiscuous. I had thoughts about doing all this stuff and other risky behaviours before but I never acted on them. So I’m not sure if is just normal teenage behaviour or is it something else. I’ve been suffering from depression from a really young age and now my depression episodes don’t last as long which is good. However when I’m happy I just make a fool of myself. I don’t know if I should tell my psychiatrist because I’m worried is something worse and my family already think I’m “crazy”. Should I just tell my doctor or should I just wait to see if it just goes away?

Do tell your psychiatrist. You have already identified the behaviors as risky, and they can be for sure. The medication may be a factor--- Be happy but healthy & work on learning to make good decisions for yourself ((((((((((hug))))))))))). It won't 'just go away'

When in doubt, let it out. Talk to your psychiatrist. They are there to help you find solutions. You can see your behaviors do not align with who you are, so act before you have an even more serious problem.

Good luck and vent here as much as you need.

Would you say you are feeling euphoric when you are doing these things? How's the sleep?

I’m really happy when I do those things. I thought I was getting better as I wasn’t feeling sad at all. When I’m sad I usually sleep quite a lot but when I’m happy I sleep less than usual. But over the last year my friends and my teachers have noticed changes in my behaviour and attitude in class.

I'm not a psychiatrist, but that sounds like it could be Borderline Personality Disorder rather than depression. You should definitely consult with your psychiatrist.

I would explain everything you posted here with your doctor. The doctor can not help you unless you are honest with them. The faster you get treatment the better off you will be in the long run.

If you aren’t taking a stabilizer, the fluoxetine May have shot you up too high.. those are classic manic symptoms. Yes, get to your pdoc ASAP.
